Who can apply

Afghan candidates can be considered under the worldwide eligibility rules. Applicants need evidence of individual risk, suitable academic qualifications and B2 German or English. Candidates must not already live in Germany or the EU. Medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy and law are excluded.

What it covers

Scholarship payments, insurance and a travel allowance; language preparation may also be covered.

How to apply

Ask an eligible German institution or organisation to nominate you. DAAD then invites suitable nominees to apply. University admission is a separate process.
